A copy of ‘Legends of Saints & Sinners / collected and translated from the Irish by Douglas Hyde’ (Dublin: The Talbot Press, 1915). The copy has an annotation which reads ‘Rev. P.J. Butler CF, 66th CCS, EEF’. The abbreviations refer to ‘CF’: Chaplain to the Forces, the post-nominal initials used by British army chaplains; CCS: Casualty Clearing Station; EEF: Egyptian Expeditionary Force.
