Peter Murray was a well-known Irish-American who lived near Santa Inés, California. Liam Mellows and Eamon Martin stayed with him from 1916-7 when they travelled to America after the Easter Rising. Peter’s father, John Murray, was known as 'Dad Murray' to his close friends. He was active in fundraising and in other republican activities. 'Dad Murray' returned to Ireland in the 1920s and lived in Howth, County Dublin.
