Born in Ulster, the Reverend Courtenay Moore served as rector of Brigown Parish, (Mitchelstown) in County Cork, from 1882 to 1916. He was appointed Canon of St. Colman’s Cathedral, Cloyne, in 1882. A nationalist, antiquarian and a prolific writer, he was also editor of ‘The Church of Ireland Gazette’ from 1893 to 1897.
