A supplement taken from the ‘United Ireland’ newspaper (25 October 1885) showing some of the Irish Parliamentary Party candidates in the November 1885 general election. Manuscript annotations have been added to some of the portraits indicating the number of votes a particular candidate obtained. The supplement includes a portrait of John Redmond (1856-1918), the nationalist politician, barrister, and Member of Parliament who later led the Irish Parliamentary Party from 1900 until his death in 1918. John Dillon (1851-1927), the leading agrarian campaigner, is also present.
