Bereik en inhoud
A bound volume containing copies of ‘Saoirse na h-Éireann / Irish Freedom’ (November 1910-October 1912, Nos. 1-24). A manuscript annotation (in Irish) on the title page indicates that the volume was presented by Seán MacDermott to Lorcan MacDermott in April 1914. A seemingly later annotation reads ‘Presented by L. MacDermott, Srinagar, Kashmir, India’. A printed title on the front cover reads ‘Irish Freedom Nos 1-24’.

Aantekening
This newspaper (an ‘official’ publication of the Irish Republican Brotherhood) operated out of offices at 5 Findlater Place (now Cathal Brugha Street). The establishment of this paper is generally credited to Tom Clarke. As soon as he returned to Ireland in 1907, he recognised the need for a newspaper, but it took him some time to raise the funds. By 1910 he had managed to get enough money to make a start and named Seán MacDermott as the newspaper’s manager.
