Note
Little is known about Robert Mannix. He exhibited in the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) in Dublin in the 1850s and 1860s. The index of RHA Exhibitors gave his address as Mount Street, Dublin, although a Glasgow address was given in later years. His most enduring commission seems to have been the elaborate artwork on the ceiling of Maynooth College Chapel in County Kildare. Several paintings by Mannix are held in the National Gallery of Ireland, the Glasgow Museums, and the Sligo County Museum and Art Gallery.
