Pièce 36 - Funeral of the Brother Stanislaus Walsh

1 p.; clipping

A newspaper clipping detailing the Solemn Requiem Mass, public funeral procession, and burial of the Late Brother Stanislaus Walsh OFM Cap. on 2 September 1910. The text chronicles the high liturgical service held at Holy Trinity Church in Cork city – celebrated by Father Fiacre Brophy OFM Cap. and attended by a gathering of Capuchin leaders, including Fr. Thomas Dowling OFM Cap. Provincial Minister, alongside prominent secular clergy. The account provides a genealogical and historical record, listing dozens of civic dignitaries and named members of the Third Order of the Holy Trinity Church. The narrative logs the transit of the funeral cortege to the Capuchin Friary at Rochestown, describing how the remains were met by local novices, students, and the Holy Trinity choir before the casket was carried on the shoulders of the Third Order brothers into the adjoining cemetery plot for interment to the tolling of the chapel bell.
