Scope and content

This volume compiles original correspondence from the guardian; alongside circular letters sent to the Rochestown community by the Provincial Definitory (Council) and the Provincial Minister. It also preserves communications from the Minister General and the Capuchin General Curia, Diocesan Pastoral Letters, and printed copies of Papal Encyclicals. Additionally, the volume features copies of the procès-verbaux (verbal processes)—the official, legally binding records and transcripts of administrative proceedings recorded during canonical visitations of the Rochestown House. Also preserved within the register are contemporary press clippings that chronicle the lives of individual friars and key milestones at Rochestown. Copies of several deeds and leases pertaining to the Rochestown property are also transcribed into the volume.

    Physical characteristics and technical requirements

The volume is in very poor condition. The spine binding has disintegrated, and the volume is missing the back cover. The volume itself is warped and several of the internal documents are folded, frayed and torn. Caution should be taken when handling the volume.
