An image of the Clonmult Monument in Midleton, County Cork. Designed by the sculptor Seamus Murphy, the obelisk commemorates the IRA members who were killed in the Clonmult ambush (20 February 1921) during the War of Independence.

The inscription on the monument reads:
'IN MEMORY OF THE DEAD / This monument has been erected to the memory of the officers and men of the 4th Battalion Cork Number 1 Brigade the Irish Republican Army who gave their lives in defence of the Irish Republic / From 1916 to 1922 / REQUISCANT IN PACE / Grateful thanks to you for placing this monument at the entrance to this town where we speak with affection of the men who died in the battle for freedom'.
