An image of possibly Fr. Paul Neary OFM Cap. on a horse and trap in a forested area in Oregon. The print is annotated (in pencil) on the reverse: ‘Myself and my horse and trap on a trip up north to look after scattered people. I took the picture myself. Was all alone in forest 40 miles from home. I am wearing a white dust coat’. With a later addendum (in pen) by Fr. Benedict Cullen OFM Cap. confirming that it is Fr. Paul Neary’s handwriting. It is possible that is a misidentification as the friar in the image could be Fr. Thomas Dowling who visited the United States to begin preparatory work for the establishment of an Irish Capuchin mission in Oregon.
