A sister of Terence MacSwiney, Annie (Eithne) MacSwiney was a qualified teacher having graduated with a science degree from Newman College, later University College Dublin. Annie and elder sister Mary MacSwiney founded and managed Scoil ĺte (St. Ita’s School) at 4 Belgrave Place just off Wellington Road in Cork. Annie MacSwiney died on 15 October 1954.
