Scope and content

An original hand-coloured architectural site plan titled Drawing No. 1 for a proposed chapel at Rochestown College, County Cork, designed by architect J. R. Boyd Barrett. Rendered at a scale of 16 feet to one inch, the layout maps the spatial orientation of the proposed chapel (highlighted in pink watercolour) relative to the ‘Existing School Buildings’. The plan features detailed topographic and landscape markings, including an adjacent ‘Side Road’, an upper walkway labelled ‘Walk’, a rear ‘Calvary’ site surrounded by trees, and infrastructural notes concerning drainage connections (‘connect to existing gully’) and floor levels.
