A clipping of an article from ‘The Cork Examiner’ dated June 1910, detailing a successful week-long parish retreat conducted in Passage West by Father Kevin Moynihan OFM Cap. The text logs the schedule of daily Masses, lectures, Rosary recitations, and Benedictions of the Most Blessed Sacrament that drew local crowds. It highlights Father Kevin’s sermon warnings against ‘imported literature of a objectionable nature’ spreading through the country, strictly exhorting heads of families to censor toxic reading materials from their homes to protect young minds.
The account chronicles extensive confessional services coordinated by four clergymen on Saturday, leading into a large public turnout for Holy Communion on Sunday morning. Furthermore, it records a major renewal of the Temperance Pledge among the congregation, framing the local crusade within the broader historical legacy of Father Theobald Mathew.
