Letter from Fr. Thomas Dowling OFM Cap., Nativity Church, Chicago, to Fr. Peter Bowe OFM Cap., Provincial Minister, referring to his meeting with Fr. Francis Kelley and arrangements with the Extension Society for travel and potential assistance in helping to establish a mission in Baker City in Oregon. He writes ‘Dr. Kell[e]y received us very kindly and is trying to arrange free transport … he promises that if the Order settles in Baker City, they will help us build two churches. If possible, they will give us a free grant …’.
