Letter from Fr. Thomas Dowling OFM Cap., Our Lady of Angels, Burlingame, California, to Fr. Edwin Fitzgibbon OFM Cap., Provincial Minister, expressing his happiness on hearing of the appointment of Fr. Sylvester Mulligan OFM Cap. as Archbishop of Delhi and Simla. He writes ‘Providence has singularly blessed your administration — the 1st Irish Capuchin Archbishop and the 1st Vicar Apostolic. May you live long to revel in the happy memories his triumphs must bring you is my hope and prayer’. He also affirms that his brother Fr. Laurence Dowling OFM Cap. is ‘far from well’ and that he has been sent to relatives in South Carolina for recuperation.
