Scope and content
Letter from Fr. Luke Sheehan OFM Cap., Bishop’s Residence, Baker City, to Fr. Peter Bowe OFM Cap., Provincial Minister, reporting on his experiences in Oregon. He writes ‘At present I am looking after a portion of what is intended to be our future mission. It's not very pleasant for the moment as there is no church or home — I stay in the hotel by room — small & by no means the place where you can retire & [have] a little quiet. The smoke room is the only place where we can venture — just a public hall where all the speculators assemble. There is very little of the hospitality of the old country’.
