Scope and content

Letter from Fr. Joseph Fenelon OFM Cap. to Fr. Peter Bowe OFM Cap., Provincial Minister, regarding administrative and personnel matters in the United States mission. The letter includes a reference to Fr. Dominic O’Connor OFM Cap. Father Fenelon writes ‘Fr. Dominic was asked, he says, to preach [Saint] Patrick’s Day sermon in Montana. I thought it was not wise for him to go there, as it is the political centre of Republicanism and I think it would not serve our Missions perhaps or the order. I am bringing Benignus to help us out here for Lent: I am sure he will keep himself alright. He might get disgruntled in Lincoln & if I can get anyone to send to help Adrian for a few weeks I will do so. Fr. C. just arrived, so with the teams in Los Angeles & San Francisco please God our work will be a great success, so very much needed, the first year here’.
