A letter from Dan Fraher (Domhnall Ua Fearachair), Dungarvan, County Waterford, to Fr. Richard Henebry referring to various consultations he has had with doctors regarding the possibility that he may have Bright’s disease. He adds ‘The 2 doctors told me never to touch liquor but if I did good whiskey was the best. I am told old Bowers is very good I believe in erbs. I also believe the old women in the county 50 years ago could cure all these diseases with erbs’.
