              Letter from +O’Hara to +McQuaid stating that he will assist at the Mass on Easter Monday. He mentions Bishop O’Brien, an American Bishop, who has been trying, in vain, to arrange a dinner with all the Irish Hierarchy and who will now try and meet some of the Bishops individually. Annotation by +McQuaid states ‘used throne, but did not recite mass or give blessing!’

              Copy letter from +McQuaid to +O’Hara stating that he has heard that the Nuncio is celebrating his Silver Jubilee of Episcopal Consecration but wishes that it go unnoticed. The Archbishop extends his congratulations and wishes his continued success.

              Letter from +O’Hara to +McQuaid thanking him for allowing Fr. Stephen Clancy leave the Clergy Retreat to accompany Fr. Moylan, former Vicar General to the Nuncio and from Atlanta, to Shannon Airport. Neither he nor Mgr. Alibrandi were available to accompany Fr. Boylan to Collinstown and hence he is very grateful to the Archbishop. He also discusses the merits of the complaints of Br. John O’Toole which will be sent to the Sacred Congregation for Religious and he has followed the advice and information provided by the Archbishop. He also mentions Professor H. Bruck who has been nominated for membership to the Pontifical Academy of Science. He mentions the new Nuncio who is leaving Cairo on 31 July and who plans on stopping in Rome before coming to Dublin.

              Letter from +O’Hara to Mgr. Glennon asking him to send the most up to date information on the Diocese to Sir Harold Hood, Assistant Editor of the Catholic Directory, published by Burns, Oates & Washbourne in London. With his imminent departure, he is unable to do this himself. Attached is a copy of the reply from Mgr. Glennon to Sir Harold Hood forwarding details for 1951 which was the last year a census was taken.

              Letter from +O’Hara to +McQuaid thanking him for the ‘gracious letter that I received from the Hierarchy of Ireland through His Eminence, the Most Reverend Cardinal D’Alton and their Lordships the Most Reverend Secretaries of the Hierarchy on the occasion of my departure from Ireland to take up new duties that have been assigned me in Great Britain’. He especially thanks the Archbishop for all his help and that he will treasure the memories he has of Ireland, whose people have a deep practical catholic faith. He asks for continued prayers in relation to his new position on ‘…the other side of the Irish Sea…’

              Handwritten notes of +McQuaid stating that Mgr. Levame has died and he has agreed to preside at a Solemn Mass on Tuesday 9 December. Mgr. Gerada is to be the Deacon and Fr. John Moloney Sub Deacon. Mgr. O’Hara has been asked to give absolution.
