This subseries comprises a small collection of the correspondence of Fr. Peter Bowe OFM Cap. (1856-1926), who served multiple terms as the Provincial Minister of the Irish Capuchins. The letters in this subseries chart the expansion of the Irish Capuchin mission in the United States, beginning in Oregon in 1910 and moving into California by the early 1920s. As Provincial Minister, Fr. Peter Bowe was instrumental in managing personnel, securing property, and establishing educational and religious foundations during this period of rapid growth in the American mission.
