Scope and content
Copy letter from Fr. Peter Bowe OFM Cap., Provincial Minister, to Cardinal William O’Connell, Archbishop of Boston, seeking his favour to establish a foundation of Irish Capuchins in his archdiocese. He suggests the order could serve local priests and the Irish American community there. Father Peter highlights the order’s rapid growth in the Western United States since starting in Oregon in 1910. He notes that about thirty Irish Capuchin priests and Brothers were working in the Western States, where Catholic resources were more scarce than in the East.
