The appeal reads: ‘Our church is in a very bad state of repair. … The citizens of Cork built the Church of the Most Holy Trinity to perpetuate the memory of Fr. Mathew. It is now in need of extensive repairs – so extensive, that we cannot repair it without your help’. The estimated cost of the repairs was stated as £20,000.
