Portée et contenu
A Catholic fundraising pamphlet seemingly distributed by Fr. Camillius Killian OFM Cap. to raise money to build the first Catholic churches in Douglas County, Oregon. The pamphlet features a hand-drawn map of the county and highlights that despite an area of 4,861 square miles and 27 non-Catholic churches, the region lacks a single Catholic church. It requests five-dollar donations in exchange for having the donor’s name placed under the altar and included in annual Masses. A handwritten note across the sign-up section adds institutional context, stating that a ‘Fr. Aloysius [Travers]’ did not sanction the document.
