Scope and content
St. Joseph's Retreat, Cloonamahon: Collooney: letter from the Provincial Fr. Valentine, C.P., (at St. Mungo's Retreat, Glasgow) to the rector of Cloonamahon, Fr, Salvian, C.P., regarding the answers given to him (Salvian) by Fr. Cyprian on the canon law requirements of the proposed new public oratory at St. Joseph's following questions raised by Salvian in the matter (see item under serial number 8726). The position is even less satisfactory than he (Valentine) had thought. The agreement with the previous bishop of the diocese has ceded our right to a public church, questing, etc., even to have more than one Mass for the faithful on Sundays. Valentine asks, "What future is there for Cloonamahon?". In consulting the community on the future of Cloonamahon, they should be fully informed as to all that is involved and they should be given the opportunity of examining carefully our contract with the late bishop.
