At a IWL meeting George Jeffares spoke of the disillusionment in West Germany with the Western Powers’ muddled policy, German unification, disarmament and increased trade and cultural exchanges between East and West, industrialization of China, and the West’s attitude to Israel and Spain.

              Typed report on CPI and KO activities. In the second of two classes on ‘The Crisis of Imperialism’ Jeffares dealt with imperialism in Cyprus, Kenya and Malaya, where the peaceful people were murdered and plundered, native industries and raw materials exploited and Capitalist interests safeguarded. He referred to General Franco’s attempt, at the instigation of the Catholic Church, to restore the Monarchy in Spain against the wishes of the majority of the people.
