A postcard showing an aerial view of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge opening, specifically looking toward San Francisco from the entrance of the Yerba Buena Island tunnel. The text side bears a 13 November 1936 postmark from San Francisco, stamped exactly one day after the bridge officially opened to the public on Thursday, 12 November 1936. A handwritten message from ‘The Collins Family’ to Father Urban Riordan OFM Cap. in Willits, California, mentions their excitement over ‘this wonderful bridge which was officially opened yesterday’.
