Statement by + McQuaid on the candidacy of a member of the Irish Workers’ League in south-west Dublin. The IWL teaches Marxist doctrines which are condemned by the Church. Catholics are forbidden to join the League and if they join they are not worthy to receive the sacraments. A Catholic who votes for the IWL candidate is guilty of a mortal sin.
