              Handwritten letter to Chris from Tom Harty. Was impressed by the Catholic spirit of the Irish he met in Glasgow. However, many young Irishmen only came near a priest for the purpose of getting married. Hopes to set up a Praesidium for conversion through the Rosary. The Archbishop of Glasgow is pleased by the work being done by both + McQuaid and yourself for the Irish in Britain.

              Handwritten letter to Chris from Tom Harty. He is anxious about the figures for Communists being reported in the papers as coming from him at the Rosary Rally in Portlaw, Co. Waterford. He wants it recorded that he does not stand over it and the Independent and Standard do not represent what he said. He gave the reporter present a written statement but he paid no attention to it.

              Statement by + McQuaid on the candidacy of a member of the Irish Workers’ League in south-west Dublin. The IWL teaches Marxist doctrines which are condemned by the Church. Catholics are forbidden to join the League and if they join they are not worthy to receive the sacraments. A Catholic who votes for the IWL candidate is guilty of a mortal sin.
