Scope and content

File containing financial records, architectural certificates, decorative contracts, and historical provenance notes spanning regarding capital improvements and liturgical acquisitions at the Capuchin Franciscan Monastery and the Hospice of St. Brigid in Rochestown, County Cork. Managed by the Guardian. Fr. Malachy Hynes OFM Cap., the documentation covers a £55 10s 6d sanctuary painting and gold-leaf restoration proposal by Perrott & Sons Contractors; a completed £215 12s 1d institutional plumbing installation executed by Richard Hennessy & Sons and formally certified by architect James MacMullen, B.E.; and a pair of August 1941 descriptive memoranda logging the wartime loan of a consecrated altar stone from the South Presentation Convent to the hospice oratory, explicitly tracing its former ownership to the nineteenth-century Bishop of Cork, Dr. John Murphy.
