              The Hermitage, Roebuck, opens as a home for Aged Men. The Grange at Clonsilla is sold to the Daughters of Charity (cf Daughters of Charity, File No.1, letters 27 June 1943 and 29 August 1943.) Roebuck Castle is acquired and received the residents of the Hermitage leaving that property exclusively for use as a novitiate. Permission for permanent novitiate at Roebuck Castle is granted with the condition of its use as a home for the aged.

Director of French Sisters of Charity (Daughters of Charity) firmly declines to leave Sisters in difficult conditions at Glencree. (see Oblates of Mary files). A beginning of secondary school at Sybil Hill, Raheny. Proposal from laity to have Vincentian secondary school at Arklow. Sisters will undertake new school at Ballyfermot.               Correspondence between Micheal Breathnach, Dept. of Education, and +McQuaid concerning the contributions to new schools. In Mount Merrion the two schools -Christian Brothers and Sacred Heart Sisters- will each receive £600 from the Parish, while in Raheny the Parish will contribute £400 to the Raheny School. Fr. Wm. Fitzpatrick has agreed to replace the late Mgr. McArdle on the representative Committee.
