Typed report on CPI and KO activities. The riots at Poznam in Poland, was the main discussion point at the meeting held on the 3rd July. Mick O’Riordan suggested that letters should be written to the newspapers to counteract the unfavourable publicity, saying that “the riots were grossly exaggerated”. Sam Nolan disagreed as such letters would keep the riots in the public mind. It was agreed to shelve the question until a pamphlet from the British Communist Party was published. Other topics discussed were the alterations to No. 37 Pembroke Road, a reading programme, and Robinson’s departure to China. The question, ‘Is the time right for Communism?’ was posed.

Typed report on Fianna Fail Organisation on Dun Laoire-Rathdown. During the past eighteen months there has been an underhand move to hurt Sean Brady T.D. and boost the Booth Bros., Lionel and Basil. Basil started the controversy in County Council on the topic of Scholarships. Matt Cullen pointed out that the minority in the Republic got far more concessions in percentage to their population than the Catholics. Brady blamed by the Booths for letters to the Press disassociating himself and the FF Party from the action of the Booths. Heated debate followed. De Valera met Sean Brady and Councillors from A. Brady threatened to resign from FF if Booth does not apologise. A man called Dolski must be treated with caution. Uneasiness with some members of the Pork Butchers’ Branch of the Workers Union of Ireland (WUI). Larkin wants them to have the same hours as Beef Butchers and has threatened strike even though victory would cause economic problems. No. 37, Pembroke Road reported sold.

Typed letter, on two pieces of yellow card, to Fr. Diffney. No. 37, Pembroke Road (CPI headquarters) broken into and papers stolen. She has been promised a look at them. Jim Larkin has issued an order to the workers in the fruit trade who are not in a union that unless they join his union he would instruct the dockers not to unload any fruit for them. Frank Clark (FF) spoke against Dr. Noel Browne at the Ard Fheis. Browne’s solicitors have written to him demanding an apology or legal proceedings would follow. As Clark represents the Fianna Fail Party in Greystones he argued that the issue is a Party one and the Party must deal with it. The new party has flopped and Browne has decided to stay in Fianna Fail. Group in Rathdown will have to get somebody of ability if they are to beat Booth. Are importing Peadar Ward, if possible, who is joining Shankill Cumann.

Typed letter to +McQuaid from Bryan W. Roche, 24 Pembroke Park, Dublin 4, telling the Archbishop he is wasting his time as his groundwork of honouring the Divine Child has neglected to speak of the honour due to those who are redeemed by the action of the Divine Child. The guilt lies with silent bishops who lack the vision of the sacredness of mankind. Poem enclosed.
