Mr. Henry Saltzman, Executive Director of the Bernard Van Leer Foundation, The Hague, visited the Department about last Easter. The Foundation’s interest lies in the field of education as it relates to the development of the intellectual potential of children and youth from disadvantaged milieus. Mr. Saltzman intimated that the Foundation would be prepared to consider proposals from this country. The Department asked a small committee to formulate a suitable project in relation to children between the ages of 3 and 8 years resident in the area served by Ruthland St. National Schools, for submission to the Foundation. The project was accepted by the Department and sent to the Foundation in May. Fr. Murray invited to accept in principle the managership of the Project School.
