A photographic postcard print showing the exterior of Mission Santa Inés, Solvang, California. The text on the reverse reads ‘Santa Ines Mission at Solvang, next closest one to the Mission Santa Barbara. Founded by Fr. Estevan Tapis, Sept. 17, 1804, for instruction to the Chumash Indians and was well noted for its crafts work. Damages by quakes and fire in 1812 and 1824 and was sold by authority of Gov. Pio Pico as a ranch in 1846 to Jose Covarrubias and Joaquin Carrilo for the sum of $7000. All but completely destroyed by 1884, restorations began in 1904 and completed by 1949 as seen today with further added regular upkeep and care. The postcard was published by Woody Gillette photo, Solvang, California.
