He was recently told that Connolly Association members asked priests in Irish areas in England for permission to sell the Irish Democrat outsides churches. Hyde would like to meet Fr. McGrath to discuss his work. May be able to help him through his column. Would like to meet the two priests coming to Britain in the autumn.

Handwritten letter to + McQuaid from Fr. Denis McGrath. Refers to a meeting in newspaper cutting regarding the formation of the Irish – Soviet Society in Dublin. The meeting took place in Hynes Restaurant, Dame Street. The proprietor is Mr. Hess, a Swiss convert. A sergeant in the Guards gave him a flier announcing the meeting. He visited Mr. Hess and asked him not to allow the meeting to take place as it was a Communist meeting. He agreed but the group ignored his protests and carried on. He will not allow them use his restaurant again.

Letter from +McGrath to +McQuaid regarding a Mrs. Ffrench Davis, formerly of his Diocese but now moving to Islandbridge, Dublin. The lady was given a Papal Award for the work she had done for the church. She is seeking permission to have Mass said in her home occasionally. He hopes the Archbishop will be able to help.
