This subseries comprises mass register books, mass ledger books, and mass stipend account books maintained by Capuchin communities at Rochestown in County Cork. Dating from 1887 to 1988, the volumes document the receipt, application, transfer, discharge, and financial administration of mass intentions and stipends.
The mass register books principally record the daily celebration of masses within the community, frequently identifying the celebrants and noting masses offered for the intentions of the Minister General, benefactors, brothers of the order, jubilees, suffrages for the dead, and foundation obligations. Many volumes include periodic attestations by the Guardian and, during canonical visitations, by the Provincial Minister and other senior Capuchin priests.
The mass ledger and stipend books provide detailed accounts of stipends received, masses fulfilled, transfers to the Provincial administration, and monthly and annual financial summaries. Several volumes also record the administration of foundation masses and benefactors’ obligations. A number of volumes contain title-page inscriptions, visitation signatures, and annotations relating to community governance and ecclesiastical accountability.
