Scope and content
Letter from Monsignor Thomas O’Keefe, St. Benedict’s Rectory, New York, to Fr. Sylvester Mulligan OFM Cap., Provincial Minister, giving an account of his miraculous survival of a close-range assassination attempt. O’Keefe details how a female assailant fired three shots at him from just four feet away, leaving bullet holes in his overcoat but leaving him completely unharmed. He notes that the shooter has been committed to an asylum for the criminal insane, and humorously muses that he might flee to Ireland and join the Capuchin Order if she is ever released.
