Letter from Fr. Stephen Murtagh OFM Cap. to Fr. Colman Griffin OFM Cap., Provincial Minister, providing an update on the Capuchin mission’s personnel, finances, and building projects across California and Oregon. He also reports that the school at Flintridge is experiencing high demand, with over one hundred boys taking the entrance exam. This necessitates starting two freshmen classes in September, and Father Stephen urgently requests two more priests from Ireland to help with the teaching load. The Dominican Fathers have agreed to take over McKenzie Bridge, but only for Sunday Mass during the winter. Because they will not further develop the site, the original donor has asked for his ‘Foundation money’ to be returned.
