Letter from Fr. Cornelius Hyland OFM Cap. to Fr. Colman Griffin OFM Cap., Provincial Minister. The letter refers to various financial reports and managing the printing of the liturgical Ordo. Father Cornelius also references wartime conditions – that the friars are prepared ‘for the Japs should they ever try to get in’ – and asks about food rationing hardships in Ireland, specifically mentioning rumours of ‘black bread’. Accompanying the correspondence is a 1941 general financial ledger alongside a final quarterly addendum, which together itemize mass enrolments and mission gifts across eleven western American districts, totalling $646.75 received for the year and closing with a cash balance of $191.16.
