Scope and content
Letter from Michael J. Curley, Archbishop of Baltimore, to Fr. Brendan O’Callaghan OFM Cap. referring to the opposition from the Pittsburgh Province (referred to as the ‘German Province’) to the Abbottstown house established by the Irish friars in Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh Province claimed an exclusive right to bar other Capuchin provinces from certain states in America. Archbishop Curley mentions this ‘situation’ had previously forced the Irish Capuchins out of the Diocese of Harrisburg in Pennsylvania.
