Report of the meeting of the International sub- committee of the IHA. Letter received by Mrs Lucy Kingston from the Japan Council Against A. & H. Bombs looking for help for the forthcoming World Conference. Mrs. Reynolds had asked that an article on Nuclear Disarmament, to be written by Mrs de Courcy Ireland, be printed in the IHA magazine. This was opposed by Una Byrne on the grounds that the IHA was a non-political organisation.

Part of typed letter [from Una Byrne – name, address, date or recipient not given]. Two of “our people” on Council of Irish Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. All others Communists. Mrs. Kingston invited to attend Peace Congress in Japan. A new Constitution has been drafted for the Communist Party. Entitled ‘Ireland’s Way to Socialism’. It plans to infiltrate Unions, Clubs, Associations and the Catholic Church. Communists have tried to line up with the IRA but IRA refused to be used. Did not oppose Mrs. Tweedy for chair of IHA for tactical reasons. Tweedy will not be a good Chairwoman so can see confusion in coming year.
