Mr. Maloney, Secretary of the Contemporary Club, has resigned. Will be a loss as he kept an eye on liberal speakers. Replaced by Miss Pepita Keating, daughter of Justine Keating. The Communist Party have converted No. 37, Pembroke Road into flats. Are holding meetings in Pembroke Hall. She (Una) refuses admittance, but Art McArdle reporting to her.

Handwritten report. Justin Keating going to continent for agricultural research. Being sent by Government. Was refused permission to go to the US some years ago by Dillon, but evidently P. Smith does not mind. Keating a member of the British Communist Party and is active here. Smith condemned Dr. Lucey at a meeting some months ago.

King, Marion, 3Eaton Square, Monkstown. The Art Committee of the Royal Hibernian Academy, which included Sean Keating and Leo Whelan, have prevented her work in glass pictures being exhibited. Asks if the Archbishop can use his influence to have her exhibit at the forthcoming Annual Exhibition of the Hibernian Academy.

Typed report on CPI and KO activities. John Nolan’s visit to London was the main item discussed at the Executive Committee meeting on 24th July. It appears that the IWL is to focus on two main channels – the question of Partition and Emigration. By using this approach it is hoped to bring League activities to the notice of application by Carrie Wine (Mrs. Justin Keating) for an Irish passport. various bodies and individuals. Greaves has just published a pamphlet titled ‘The Irish Case Against Partition’. Publicity is to be given to the visit of Bord na Mona executives to Russia Irish emigrants are to be told of the advantages of joining the Connolly Clubs discussion on CIE
