Kavanagh, Rev. Fr, John: MSS and associated items in Mount Argus Archives:
SECONDARY SOURCES; Printed Articles: A book entitled "The Irish Colleges On The Continent Their Origin And History" by Very Rev. Canon O'Boyle, The history of the Irish College at Nantes is covered in pages 181-200. There is no mention of Fr. Kavanagh. Mention is made on page 196 that there was no literary output from the College. nor has any work from the pen of a teacher or student survived. This was written before the discovery of the Kavanagh "diary" and "verses and letters" MSS which contain a vivid account of student life there during the late 1700s and give some equally vivid descriptions of professors. N.B. BECAUSE THIS ITEM IS BULKY, IT IS PLACED ON TOP OUTSIDE OF THE HOLOGRAPH BOX.

Archival documents are catalogued in the following way : Shelf number, box number, file number and item number. Thus, 45/1/1/4 means shelf forty-five, box one, file one and item four. In addition to this each item has an individual serial number. This is attached to the catalogue as an alternative identifier.
