A photographic print of the ‘Éire’ page from Arthur O’Murnaghan’s ‘Leabhar na hAiséirighe’ (The Book of the Resurrection). The ‘Éire’ page is dominated by the Irish word for Ireland which is superimposed over a list of alternative names for the country such as ‘Banba Inisfail’, ‘Inis-Ealga’, ‘Fodla’, ‘Scota’, ‘Ierne’, ‘Hibernia’, ‘Moira’ and ‘Iuverna’. This is surrounded by panels of Celtic filigree designs, figures of birds, a round tower, and a quotation from ‘The Vision of St. Bridget’. Reproductions of the popular ‘Éire’ page were sold to raise funds for the completion of ‘Leabhar na hAiséirighe’. (Volume page 27)

An election flier for Michael Staines for the Dublin St. Michan’s constituency at the 1918 general election. Staines was the Sinn Féin candidate, and he defeated John Dillon Nugent (Irish Parliamentary Party) in the contest. The flier was issued by W.J. Norman, 57 Dame Street, Staines’s election agent.
An election flier produced for Dr Patrick McCartan (1878-1963), the Sinn Féin candidate, during the South Armagh by-election which was held on 2 February 1918. The flier features a satirical illustration of Sir Edward Carson, the leading Irish Unionist, depicted as a stereotypical Irish peasant with a shillelagh under his arm, talking to a woman, most likely a representation of John Redmond, the leader of the Irish Parliamentary Party. The woman wears a hat adorned with ‘Home Rule’ and has a bag hanging from her waist which reads ‘Conscription Dowry’ superimposed over the pound (£) symbol. Underneath the image, the caption reads ‘Sir Edward Carson: “Frankly, I'm not all round your neck but everybody wants me to marry you for your Conscription Dowry”’. The illustration is credited to Wilton Williams.

Trail affirms that he ‘shall the Church of Ireland from the misrepresentations of those who seem anxious to make further raids upon the property of the Representative Church Body, by careful financial management, has succeeded in accumulating’. He confirms that in politics he has ‘always been a Conservative’. The file includes a list of committee members supporting Trail’s candidacy.
Flier from Dodgson Hamilton Madden for the impending Trinity College (Dublin University) by-election. The flier reads ‘I have always been a firm supporter of the Conservative party, and I look upon its present position with pride. That party, with the patriotic aid of the Liberal Unionists, has succeeded in averting from the Empire disintegration and dishonour, and from Ireland a signal and crushing disaster’. Madden received 1,376 in the contest and was elected an MP.
Flier promoting the interest of Edward Gibson (1837-1913) to the electors of the Trinity College, Dublin. In 1875, Gibson won a parliamentary by-election in the TCD constituency against an official candidate.
