A bound volume containing printed copies of block pulls for illustrations in 'The Capuchin Annual' and in 'The Father Mathew Record'. The images are numbered and (in some instances) dated. The volume includes many copies of the illustrations of Richard J. King (including St. Patrick and St. Brigid), and photographs of various Irish Capuchin friars including the Most Rev. Timothy Phelim O’Shea OFM Cap., Vicar Apostolic of Livingstone. The volume also includes several obituary articles (with image content) for Archbishop Sylvester Mulligan OFM Cap., and images of Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap., Richard J. King, Aodh de Blacam, and missionary friars and buildings in Africa and in the United States. The volume also contains the following clippings:

File containing illustrations for 'The Capuchin Annual' by Fr. Gerald McCann OFM Cap. (1910-1958). These humorous black-ink drawings depict aspects of Capuchin Franciscan life and were regularly published in the 'Annual'. Fr. Gerald also served as assistant-editor of the publication. The themes include Christmas festivities, pranks and mischiefs involving Capuchins (some of the friars depicted, including Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap., were known to Fr. Gerald), sports, music, everyday chores and religious rituals.

Sets of postcard prints of Irish Saints designed by Richard King (1907-1974) and commissioned for 'The Capuchin Annual'. The prints depict St. Brendan, St. Patrick, St. Ita, St. Fiacre, St. Senan, St. Colmcille, St. Brigid and St. Laurence O’Toole. Each one of the postcards shows the Saint (in colour) on one side, with a postcard layout on the reverse with the name of the Saint, the artist (Risteárd Ó Cionga) and the copyright statement.

The first number of 'The Father Mathew Record' was published in January 1908. It was founded and edited by Fr. Aloysius Travers OFM Cap. (1870-1957). 1967 marked the last year of the publication under the title of 'The Father Mathew Record'. From 1968 until it ceased publication in 1973, the publication was known as 'Eirigh'. Very little content has survived for the publication for the years prior to the assumption of the editorship of 'Eirigh' by Fr. Donal O’Mahony OFM Cap. (1936-2010) in the late 1960s.

Letters from Michael Knightly (1888-1965), the government’s Chief Press Censor, to Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap. Knightly’s letter refers to the prohibition on the publication of images of coastal locations (such as Cobh, Mizen Head, and Portstewart Strand) and to restrictions on information received from foreign ‘wireless’ (telegraph or radio) sources.

A letter and signed print of Micheál Ó Ciánain (Michael Keenan), a piper from Shercock in County Cavan, to Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap. His letter refers to a local tradition regarding Andrew Campbell (1711-1769), the Bishop of Kilmore, who was known as the ‘the Piper Bishop’ during the Penal era. Ó Ciánain explains how the prelate ‘disguised himself as a piper’ with the instrument serving as ‘a Bell to call the flock together at a time when no Bell could be heard’.

Letter from Margaret ‘Maggie’ Moloney (1869-1959), to Fr. Philip King OFM Cap. (1885-1952). Margaret was celebrated as purportedly the world’s only known female harbour master when she assumed the position in Glin, County Limerick, following the death of her brother James in November 1918. She was also likely the longest-tenured harbour master in Ireland, only retiring from the role in 1952. The letter outlines how her brother worked for fifteen years as harbour master (including through the years of the Great War) and how he had to contend with petty local disputes to retain his role and secure an increase in wages.

A letter from James Mason (1909-1984), the English-born Hollywood actor, to Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap. The letter refers to Mason’s tribute to the late Abbey Theatre actor F.J. McCormick (d. 24 April 1947), which appeared in the 1948 edition of ‘The Capuchin Annual’. Mason got acquainted with McCormick when they both appeared in the 1947 film ‘Odd Man Out’ in which the former played a mortally wounded republican bank robber on the run in Belfast. Mason requests that his fee for his McCormick tribute be donated to an ‘animal charity’ in Dublin.
