Founded by Edmund Finn in 1767, this newspaper was published in Kilkenny twice weekly (on Wednesdays and Saturdays). It also included local news from surrounding counties including Carlow, Kildare, Tipperary, and Waterford. Following the death of her husband in 1777, Catherine Finn took over the running of the paper. It was subsequently published as the 'Leinster Journal' (1801-1830), and the 'Kilkenny Journal and Leinster Commercial and Literary Advertiser' (1832-1922). The file includes the following editions:

An engraving of St. John’s Abbey, Kilkenny. The print is probably taken from Edward Ledwich’s 'The History of Antiquities of Irishtown and Kilkenny', which contains plates of ‘St. John’s Abbey, Kilkenny’ and the ‘East Window of Dunamase Abbey’, engraved from W. Beauford’s drawings by J. Duff.

This series comprises a collection of local newspapers (mostly published in Kilkenny). Many of the items include articles covering events and ceremonies connected with the Capuchin friars in the city.

Postcard prints of the interior and exterior of the Capuchin Friary, Kilkenny. The exterior is taken at the junction of Friary Street with Pennyfeather Lane. Published by 'Kilkenny People' Printing Ltd. There are numerous copies of each print.

A printed address on cloth expressing the gratitude of the members of the Friary Choir in Kilkenny to Fr. Jarlath Hynes OSFC. The address was presented to the friar to mark his departure from Kilkenny after many years. Includes the printed names of Miss A.M. Ryan, organist, and other members of the choir.

A letter from Fr. C. O’Neill, St. Peter’s Presbytery, Milford Street, to Fr. Canice Bourke OFM Cap., a Capuchin friar, referring to the effects of bombing raids during the Belfast Blitz in April 1941. He writes ‘A great disaster has befallen this city and I have lost a few very saintly tertiaries. Many people have left, for the houses are not habitable; others have fled in fear. But no-one on the Falls Road area was injured. The Catholic Church in the city was damaged save for a few panes of glass. The disaster will affect our Triduum somewhat, but I think it is better to have it, all the same. It would never do to give up on prayer and the people are saying the Rosary in the streets every night in this parish. The horror of an air-raid is inconceivable until one has seen it’.

List of guarantors on three-year system. II. List of special benefactors with amounts subscribed. III. Amounts received from Brothers and Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis. IV. Expenditure account on new building (mostly with Stephen Lalor [var. Lawlor], builder and contractor).
