Fr. Hugh Murphy OFM Cap. in Zambia. The original caption reads ‘Fr. Hugh Murphy arrived in Zambia in 1947; died in Livingstone on 9th March 1990’.

Capuchin Friars at Mongu Airport

A group of Capuchin friars at an airstrip in Mongu in Western Zambia. The group includes the Cork-born friars, standing, third from the right, Fr. Luke Browne OFM Cap. (1920-2008), and, standing at left, Fr. Theophilus Murphy OFM Cap. (1928-2006). The Wicklow-born Fr. Crispin Brennan OFM Cap. (1917-2009) is seated, second on the right. The caption to the print identifies the aircraft in the background as a de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver operated by Zambia Airways.
