The tower of the Church of Saint John the Baptist is visible in the image. This small-scale rural church was constructed by the Board of First Fruits, an institution of the Church of Ireland, which was established in 1711 to build and improve Anglican churches and rectories in Ireland. The Church of Saint John the Baptist in Annestown dates to about 1822.
