Costs of Thomas J. Furlong, solicitor, 11 Eustace Street, Dublin, associated with ‘tenants’ costs of and incidental to obtaining a fee farm grant of premises on Church Street’. The fee farm was granted by Caroline Sophia Hunt to Fr. William (Paul) Neary OSFC and Fr. Nicholas Murphy OSFC. The costs cover routine solicitors’ expenses from 19 Aug. 1912-30 Nov. 1912. The total amount due was noted as £25 13s 4d. On 5 Nov. 1912, Fr. Angelus Healy OSFC informed Furlong that he ‘had no document to identify the numbers of the houses with the premises in the old lease’. Furlong had already walked around the whole property constituting the Friary and ‘found no trace of the old buildings’. He also inspected the architect’s ground plans but could obtain no positive proof as to buildings referred to in the fee farm grant.

Agreement for sale from William Adams, Queen Street, to Fr. Matthew (Thomas) O’Connor OSFC, Fr. Leonard (Michael) Brophy OSFC and Fr. Fidelis (Michael) Neary OSFC, Holy Trinity Church, Cork, for premises on Queen Street held under a lease dated 1 Jan. 1846 (CA/HT/2/1/1/9) and for a property known as No. 13 Queen Street held under a lease dated 1 Oct. 1887 for 99 years at the yearly rent of £20. The properties were purchased for £840 free from encumbrances. With searches, bills, instructions for counsel, letters from William Guest Lane, solicitor, and an assignment of said leases from Adams to the Capuchin friars dated 29 Mar. 1900.

The said plots are outlined in an attached schedule and include a dwelling house and premises at no. 6 Queen Street, Cork, in the occupation of Kate Wideman. Thomas Matthew O’Connor OSFC of the aforementioned mortgage on the dwelling house at no. 6 Queen Street (now known as no. 8 Queen Street). The deed refers to the foregoing lease dated 1 Sept. 1862 by Robert Warner to Thomas Ronayne Sarsfield and others of a piece of ground adjoining Queen Street. (See CA HT/2/1/1/13). The deed of covenant relates to an undertaking by John McNamara, Edward John Gould and Michael McNamara to maintain, ‘keep or cause to be permanently kept, built and closed up with stone and mortar two windows’ situated on the western side of the aforementioned store. The deed includes a coloured-sketch elevation of the store with the two windows marked in red ink. Scale: 15 feet to 1 inch. The elevation was drawn by Frederick A.
