Your Grace my dear Archbishop
Your kind note assuring me that you had con-
tacted Mr. Ryan regarding the purchase of Edenmore
is just another guarantee of your fatherly solicitude
and kindliness, Do accept my deepest apprecia-
tion and gratitude, your Grace
I know well what a grateful heart is that of our
dear Mother General Hers is one that is never
wanting in thanking for mere trifles, so you can
well imagine what it feels knowing that you
have granted us permission to make a Foundation
in your Archdiocese
At the moment I am still trying to replace the
Novice Mistress who hopes to return from Rome
only around September 6th or 7th I shall try
to return to Ireland and do some more schools
beginning, G.A. in Limerick. However if there is
need of me in Dublin I should stop there before
going to Limerick. You will have the kindness to
notify me Your Grace will you not
A. Retreat commences here to-night and you shall re-
ceive added prayers during these days of prayer and
contemplation. If the four Novices of the Dublin
Diocese knew the good news I om sure feelings
would run high your Grace

Your Grace my dear Archbishop
It was kind of you indeed to write to me
I am glad that you have met our Sisters and
they were happy and privileged that you
spent some time with them. They wrote to me
telling all about it. I only had one regret that
I was not there.
you are informed I presume about the re-
cent progress of the affairs of Edenmore
looks as if we shall not get Kellys property
for another year. Fiat! Mr. Jones suggests
renovating the Gate; lodge so that two of us
at least could watch the renovations. The
General Council is willing and even anxious
to do this. Mr. Jones said that could be
done between now and Christmas but
Mr Ryan does not sum to be keen on it
Our offer will be presented to the Housing
Committie on Friday next Do you think it
will be rejected, your Grace! You will I
know say a prayer that the work can soon
be commenced. I must plan on going to
India and Pakistan for Rev. Mother General
next Fall and I would like to see things
well advanced before going
Kindly say a prayer for Mrs Murphy, of
Terenure. The underwent a serious operation
about ten days ago at Glasnevin Hospital

Your Grace my dear Archbishop
I was wonderful of you to have written
me before my departure from Dublin I
am deeply grateful to you.
God willing. I expect to be in Dublin to-
morrow and will be so happy to see you
shall I ring Father Mangan or shall I
await a note from your Grace.
The morning I left I signed the paper
which is to give us permission to take
possession of Edenmore and begin at least
the repairs on the Gate Lodge. Mr. Jones
san no reason why the work could not
begin on May 1st the Feast of St. Joseph the
Worker He will direct work and workers
for the Glory of God. I am sure.
I have had to ask Rev. Mother General to allow
me to borrow 38,000 originally it was 35,000.
Ther has already sent me her written authorization
which I shall give to Mr. Sheridan as the Bank
of Ireland Your Grace, perhaps you will yet
be asked to give your signature for the loan
I am not familiar with that necessity. There
are so many things I do not know.. But
feel that you will counsel me with your
rich experience and how much I shall ap-
precrate that. There are some questions
on my mind which I hope you will help me
to clear up regarding the coming of the Sisters
Two postulants received the Holy Habit to day and
two others pronounced their First Vows Two were
from Dublin. I said a special prayer for you be-
not have found their way to the Sisters of St. Joseph
How admirable is Gods loving Providence

Your Grace:
While in Rome you sent a letter to Mother de Pazzi
giving your sanction for an addition of some extra rooms
At the Nursing Home in Raheny. Now, the plans have
been sent to Monsignor Fitzpatrick with changes which we
felt necessary to meet the present needs.
In order to finance this addition, we need to borrow
the sum of ￡40,000. The Bank is willing to give us the
loan on condition that they receive a letter of approval
from Your Grace. Please, may I ask you for this favor?
There is another letter that is necessary for the
Sacred Congregation in order to obtain the Indult. We
Would appreciate your letter of approval.
Many thanks for all you do for us. It would be a
a great pleasure to see you if it is convenient for you.
Please give us your blessing.

Your Grace my dear Archbishop
We were disappointed that we did not have
r little visit from you before you left Sunday.
Fiat. I felt grateful that at least I had a
word with you
I wanted to thank you personally for all the
help you gave me these last days especially
Dr. Fitzpatrick was so very gracious in his
interest. He blessed all the articles and vest-
ments and very generously offered to say
the first Mass in the little Oratory
He did not know what arrangements you
would sug gest beyond that Would you like
1to ask the Capuchins or Vincentians to
say a Mass once a week Maybe you have
other plans, which you will make known to
us after we return to Dublin
Mother Alice Mary arrived safely this morn-
ing and was thrilled to be in Ireland.

I know, your Grace you are on Retreat and
when we return to Raheny, I shall send you
a note because I am sure you will want
to meet Mother. She is most anxious to meet
you
I wanted to tell you Sunday that we shall
be looking forward to your visit to our
Gate lodge in the near future. You know
Your Grace how very happy we shall be
to welcome you to our humble home.
These days, you are receiving a special remembrance
and I beg our Lord to fill your soul with
tremendous graces to meet the problems and
anxieties which must necessarily present

Your Grace Imy dear Archbishop
Since I hope to complete my visit in the Limerick Schools to
morrow I plan to return to Dublin on Friday Should
there be any transactions regarding Edenmore I could be
reached either, through the Medical Missionaries (882722)or through
the Murphys (1901127
The following Monday I hope to commence the Schools of
Sligo returning to Dublin Sept 28th or 29th to arrange for
the postulants departure for South Wales At this time
should deeply appreciate an interview your Grace, if you
an spare a wee bit of time. There are two of my own
community Irish Americans who will join me at that time
One is the assistant Matron of our hospital in India
and comes from our large hospital in the Archdiocese of
Hartford Connecticut Since she is very familiar with
the needs of hospitals she would be a great help to me
in studying the plans formulated by Mr Jones The
two saw Edenmore and were very delighted with it.
This really made me very happy!! I would give me
great pleasure if your Face would permit me to present
them to you
After the departure of the postulants I shall have to think
of mine for Rome unless there will be further need of me in
Dublin Neither Mr. Jones nor Mr. O Brien here written but
they are waiting my return,
No day passes but your name finds place in my poor prayers
and I humbly trust that our Divine Lord favors you with some
special graces in return. Your fatherly kindness and interest is
more deeply appreciated and I realize with the passage of the weeks
how privileged we are to be allowed a place in your Archdiocese
