Scope and content
Indenture of conveyance, assignment, and exchange concerning major extensions of the Capuchin Franciscan lands in Rochestown, County Cork. The document formalizes a complex and substantial land purchase combined with an exchange of small agricultural plots to consolidate estate boundaries. The document refers to a portion of the lands of Rochestown, Parish of Carrigaline, Barony and County of Cork, containing approximately 55 acres. These lands were formerly in the occupation of Joseph Mintern and were already being occupied by the Capuchin friars at the time of this deed. The purchase price for this absolute fee simple estate is £1,400. The document includes a detailed cadastral plan drawn at a scale of twelve inches to a mile. It establishes the absolute topography of the late-nineteenth century Capuchin estate in Rochestown, County Cork.
