              Letter from +Mark Hurley to +McQuaid stating the Sisters of Mercy from Carysfort have arrived safely. They are already working in the schools and were made feel very welcome by the people of the city of Napa.               Typed letter from Constance O’Connell, Clonskeagh. A Mr. Hurley, Raharoon, Bandon, was awarded damages in the Circuit Court for an assault on his daughter. He was summoned for not sending her to the same teacher, but “escaped”. Issue raised by Dr. Noel Browne in Dail.

              Typed letter from Constance O’Connell dealing with the Hurley case, Bandon. Mr. Hurley’s daughter was assaulted by a teacher at school. Was awarded damages in Court. Hurley was then summoned for not sending his daughter back to the same teacher. Minister of Education decided to hold a formal inquiry. Mr. Nolan, the teacher, informed parents and asked if they wanted to be present. Asked them to state if they were satisfied with the education and running of school.

              Copy of letter from + McQuaid to Mgr. Charles Hurley asking him to instruct Fr. McCarthy to remove the Blessed Sacrament at 2 p.m. on Sunday, take away the veil and open wide the two tabernacles. He should not be in the Church around 3.30 p.m.
